A written programme must be brought to the examination.- Round 1 (duration 6-10 minutes):
- At least four works of different styles, three from before 1800 and one from after 1800, to be performed from memory.
One German poetry, prose or drama text to be performed from memory (duration approx. 3 minutes; no musical theatre)
- At least four works of different styles, three from before 1800 and one from after 1800, to be performed from memory.
For candidates who have been admitted to the second round:
- Round 2 (duration 10-15 minutes):
One complete medium to large oratorio role or one complete medium to large opera role from before 1800; not to be performed from memory.

Works from Round 1 may also be required in Round 2.
