New sounds in the old "Wastl"
Between 1910 and 1914, architect Wallraff built the Sebastianspital (known as Wastl among locals) in Nuremberg's Wöhrd district.
One hundred years later, from 2014 to 2018, the historic building was completely renovated and converted to meet the needs of a modern music academy. Under the direction of architect Robert Rechenauer, the refurbishment was carried out in compliance with listed building regulations, won several awards and received consistently positive reviews in the media.
State-of-the-art facilities (orchestra hall, cafeteria, lecture hall, EMP hall) and newly integrated elements such as the open foyer on the east side combine with the "old walls" to create a unique atmosphere.
