The Nuremberg University of Music  is committed to sustainability in all relevant areas of activity. As a sustainable university, it operates at the interface between art, science, business, politics and society. The further development of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in music-specific areas is also a strategic goal of the university, which is also a supporting university of the Bavarian Centre for Higher Education and Sustainability (BayZeN).

A central component of our sustainability strategy is the integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in our music-specific areas. We want to make our students aware of the challenges and opportunities of a sustainable future and empower them to take responsibility. As a member of the Bavarian Centre for Higher Education and Sustainability (BayZeN), we work closely with other institutions to share best practice and develop innovative solutions in the field of sustainability.

Our sustainability efforts are supported by the regular Sustainability Jour Fixe, which brings together all groups at the University. This dialogue allows us to define common goals and coordinate appropriate actions.

In addition, the two sustainability coordination centres for all Bavarian universities of the arts are based at the Nuremberg University of Music. This underlines our commitment to a holistic sustainability strategy that encompasses all areas of our institution.
