Our repertoire
The programme includes both current compositions by students and teachers of the Nuremberg University of Music and interesting German jazz composers as well as "classics" from the extensive big band literature: in recent years concert programmes by Bob Mintzer, Thad Jones, Bob Florence, Bill Holman and others have been performed alongside numerous world premieres.
The interplay, intensity and energy that is generated during the rehearsal phases is released in the concerts and thrills the audience.

Klaus Graf and Steffen Schorn, both professors of jazz saxophone, have worked with the who's who of the international jazz scene. They have been making music together for over 25 years and are passing on their shared love of big band jazz to the next generation.
Jazz choir
The Jazz Choir is open to all students (not just jazz students). The choir has around 20 members and rehearses every Wednesday from 3.15pm to 4.45pm. There are no special requirements for singing in the choir, but regular attendance is a prerequisite.
Rehearsals include a warm-up, vocal training, improvisation and rhythmic and ear training. Students with a Bachelor key profile in Jazz Choir Conducting use parts of the choir rehearsal for teaching practice.
Our repertoire
The repertoire is adapted each semester to suit the projects in which the choir is involved. In addition to a cappella arrangements and circle songs, the choir has also performed with the Big Band in recent years, for example with arrangements by the New York Voices. The choir sings whatever the members like - and to a high standard. Stylistic variety is the order of the day!
