This year's 5,000 euro award from the district of Middle Franconia goes to our symphony orchestra at the Nuremberg University of Music

Every year, the district of Middle Franconia awards three prizes to creative artists 'in recognition of cultural achievements that are worthy of support and promise further positive development'. One of the criteria for the awards is that the artists must all be "connected to Franconia by birth, life or work".

In 2024, our symphony orchestra at the Nuremberg University of Music will receive one of the sponsorship awards. The orchestra offers young talents the opportunity to gain important initial experience and develop artistic skills in orchestral playing. The ensemble has been under the direction of Prof Guido Johannes Rumstadt since 2009 and is made up of students from all university classes. It offers a comprehensive and practical training, including work with international guest conductors, the development of a diverse orchestral repertoire, and collaboration with the in-house vocal classes for opera and operetta productions. The musicians showcase their skills in the University's Concert Hall, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra's Congress Hall, and in guest performances at home and abroad, including Italy, Luxembourg and China.
