News Patrons receive Gaillard cello on loan

f.l.t.r.: Lucius Hemmer, Marc Sontag, Anna Körber

The 1880 cello comes from the renowned master workshop of Charles Gaillard in Paris. For this generous loan, worth €55,000, the Patrons of Nuremberg University of Music would like to thank Mr Marc Sontag of Erlangen.

The instrumental scholarship is awarded to particularly talented and dedicated students in close collaboration with the university's professors of music. This wonderful opportunity underlines the value and crucial role of the University Patrons as a reliable partner in the development of young musical talent.

"Putting such an instrument in the hands of our students is an important step in our mission to provide young talent with the best possible conditions for their artistic development," said Prof. Lucius A. Hemmer, Chairman of the Patrons. "We are deeply grateful to Mr Sontag for his generous support and his trust in our work." Marc Sontag inherited the instrument from his mother, who was herself a professional cellist.

The Charles Gaillard cello is distinguished by its masterful craftsmanship and unique sound. It offers students the opportunity to develop their skills on a high quality instrument and prepare for their future careers.
