University scholarships and grants

Studying at the NUM is free of charge for both German and international students.

You can apply for scholarships from private and public sources within the university to co-finance your studies and individual artistic projects:

  • Who is it for? Funding is available for foreign students enrolled in a Bachelor's degree programme (at least 2nd or 3rd year of study) or Master's degree programme (at least 2nd semester)

    Awarded once a year to one student

  • Who is it for? The Erasmus+ programme provides funding for study abroad.

    Funding period and amount Semester or annual scholarship
    Application deadline 15 January for the following academic year
    Apply according to the deadlines of the host university for an exchange year or semester starting in the winter or summer semester.

  • For whom? Talented and eligible students or special artistic and educational projects with a connection to the Nuremberg cultural region
    Award criteria Comprehensible financial need, without which the project cannot be realised
    Funding period and amount One-off payment of a funding amount

  • Who is it for?
    • Elemental Music Pedagogy graduates

    • Graduates of instrumental or vocal pedagogy

    Award criteria

    Average of the following assessments:

    • Elemental Music Pedagogy: main subject EMP 2, 3 and 4, modules Music Pedagogy 1 and 2, Bachelor's thesis
    • Instrumental or vocal pedagogy: main subject, pedagogy modules 1 to 5, Bachelor's thesis

    The average grade must be better than 2.0.

    Amount In each category one 1st prize (€ 2,000), a 2nd prize (€ 1,500) and a 3rd prize (€ 1,000)

  • For whom? Outstanding students
    Award criteria Artistic excellence and social neediness
    Funding period and amount Subsidy for bills (study materials, instruments, repairs, etc.), between €100 and €500

  • Who is it for? Funding for foreign students (at undergraduate and postgraduate level) in the form of graduation grants or scholarships for special commitment.
    Award criteria
    • Good performance and successful completion of studies expected within one year
    • Commitment to an international context
    Funding period and amount max. 6 months, in exceptional cases extension up to max. 12 months

  • Who is it for?
    • Foreign students who have completed at least 2nd semester (BA) and 1st semester (MA) at the NUM

  • Who is it for? Women teachers or students who aspire to a professorship
    Award criteria Qualification for a university career, artistic or academic development project
