Qualifying exam

  • Main subject

    Artistic-practical exam
    A written programme must be brought to the examination.

    • Presentation of at least one score of an arrangement for big band or mixed ensemble
    • Presentation of at least one lead sheet of an own composition
    • Audio sample of own works on sound carrier desired
    • Compulsory subject Jazz Piano: preparation of two works and sight-reading (duration: 8-12 minutes)
    • Written examination: Writing a 4-part movement on a given piece of music, creating a Counterpoint on a given theme (duration: 90 minutes)
    • Listening Analysis: Notation of various musical examples from the areas of melody, rhythm, harmony and chord combinations, understanding complex musical structures from different styles (duration: 8-12 minutes)
    • Colloquium (duration: 20-25 minutes)
