From the jury statement:
What distinguishes this production is its honest, light, humorous and at the same time profound approach to the challenging subject of farewell and death. (...) The music is very much at the centre of the action and yet blends in with the text, the movement and the space. This is contemporary music theatre in the best sense of the word, combining the old with the new. As the subtitle says, this is a 'performance with music'. You could also simply say: an outstanding, interdisciplinary music theatre production.
The German Theatre Prize DER FAUST is awarded by the Deutsche Bühnenverein together with the Deutsche Akademie der Darstellenden Künste and the Kulturstiftung der Länder and honours outstanding artistic achievements.
The award ceremony for this year's FAUST Theatre Prize will take place on 16 November at the Altenburg Theatre in Gera.
