The trio "First Encounter" consisting of alto saxophone, baritone saxophone and an AI-controlled grand piano was able to convince the six-member jury and present their results live at the award ceremony on June 9 as part of this year's ELBJAZZ Festival in Hamburg. For this purpose, they used various software developed in research projects of the AI Lab of Nuremberg University of Music and with LEONARDO.
The jazzki award aims to bring to light ways and possibilities of human-machine interaction in the jazz context and to present them to a broad audience. Musicians should be encouraged to deal with AI and its musical possibilities.
