The NUECOMER Jazz Award was organised for the second time as part of the NUEJAZZ Festival. This year's theme was the music of Carla Bley. The composer and pianist, who died last year at the age of 87, was one of the spearheads of US free jazz.

1st place: Honggyu Lee Trio

Honggyu Lee - Guitar
Natasha Zaychenko - Double Bass
Theo Wolf - Percussion

The trio impressed the jury with the quality of their playing, their soulful melodic power, rhythmic energy and clarity of vision.

2nd place: The Doctor

Laura Detterbeck - voice
Louis Protzer - piano

The jury praised the duo's harmonic depth, richness, humour and expressiveness, as well as the rigour of their performance.

3rd place: Grand Mothers

Anastasija Šanina - piano
Natasha Zaychenko - double bass
Christian Langpeter - Percussion

"Grand Mothers" impressed the jury with their artistic maturity, the depth of their musical expression, the individual band sound and the collective ensemble work.

Congratulations to all the winners!
