News Success Julia Ogas becomes academician with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra

Violist Julia Ogas (class of Prof. Andreas Willwohl) has won the audition for an academy place with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra. Congratulations!

Julia Ogas was born in Oviedo, Spain, into a family of musicians. She began playing the viola at the age of 6 and at 12 began studying with Luis Magin Muñiz, professor at the Oviedo Conservatoire. At the age of 17, she moved to Germany to pursue a career as a musician and began preliminary studies with Ronen Shifron in Leipzig. She then began her Bachelor's degree in Leipzig with Ronen Shifron and completed it with Tatjana Masurenko. During this time she was able to develop her skills at various venues such as the Mendelssohn House and the Alte Handelsbörse. She also had the opportunity to play in various orchestras such as the Kammerakademie Halle.

In 2022 she completed her Bachelor's degree in Leipzig and began a new chapter with her Master's degree in Nuremberg with Andreas Willwohl. Since then she has taken part in various competitions and performed professionally with her string quartet, the "Norim Quartett", in various concerts and at the Mendelssohn Competition.

In addition to her studies, she received musical inspiration from master classes with Jon Thorne, Roberto Diaz, Barbara Westphal and Wilfried Strehle. She was also influenced by her participation in the Baltic Sea Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Kristian Järvi and in the International Academy Orchestra of the 30th SommerMusikAkademie Schloss Hund. SommerMusikAkademie Schloss Hundisburg under the direction of Johannes Klumpp.

She also won first prize at the II Concurso de interpretación violística para jóvenes valores (AESAV) in Spain in 2015 and the Rotary Club Scholarship in 2023, which includes a Sebastian Schade viola and a gold bow by the famous bow maker Hans Karl Schmidt.
